Refugees and migrants' integration, Europe's future challenge

From the beginning of 2015, almost a million people have passed from Turkey to some of the greek islands, trying to reach one of the wealthy countries of North Europe. It is about the biggest people' movement in the recent history and one of the most important human crisis in Europe, after war.

Many are the refugees' problems in the host countries. One of them is the difficulty of integration in society, which is mainly result of the people' racist behavior. Also, the lack of material goods and facilities for their accomodation and the inability to offer proper education are some of the difficulties refugees have to face.

The indifference that powerful countries show by closing the borders and the inability of cooperation between European countries make the problem worse and prevent the finding of a solution.

Refugee Problem in Today’s World

The European migrant crisis or European refugee crisis began in 2015, when a rising number of refugees and migrants made the journey to the European Union to seek asylum, travelling
across the Mediterranean Sea or through Southeast Europe.

Kinds of refugees

They came from areas such as Western and South Asia, Africa and the Western Balkans. According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the top three nationalities of the over one million Mediterranean Sea arrivals in 2015 were Syrian (49%), Afghan (21%) and Iraqi (8%). Of the refugees and migrants arriving in Europe by sea in 2015, 58% were men, 17% women and 25% children.
